Link Checker checks the links in your website, updates them and manages bookmarks. It renews broken links by finding the new URLs and updating the addresses. It also restores the names, keywords, descriptions and meta tags.
Running the validation process produces a list of dead links with a 404 status and links moved to new domains giving a 301 or 302 status. Dead links are shown by a red icon and moved links have a yellow icon. Major content changes and movement of page are also detected. Pages that have moved or had a major change in content since the last validation run appear underlined on the list. The bookmark validation process can be stopped at any time. If you need to stop the run, you can save the file and pick up where you left off at a later time.
Link Checker has a powerful facility for handling bookmarks. The bookmark manager is integrated with the major browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Google Chrome giving it more features. Bookmarks are found very quickly by simply typing in the keywords. Search terms can be combined with wild cards and the AND operator. Or refine your searches using OR, AND NOT, and quotes. It is also possible to confine your searches to specific directories and folders. Selecting two searches at the same time gets even faster searches.
You can manage your bookmarks by exporting them, printing them out and even password protecting them. Bookmarks can be exported in different formats. You can even create a template in XML or HTML to export them. If you are able to write basic script, you have an even wider choice in export formats.
This tool can handle two databases simultaneously yet with different passwords set up. For example, one database could be made public with no password. The other could be protected with a password of your choice.
Bookmarks can be printed. After you run a search, select the search results to print or simply select the required database. Then choose the font, margin settings, and fields you want in the preview window.
Link Checker has some even more refined options. For color blind users there is an option to change the icon settings. For pages that change very frequently, just opt to exclude them from the validation run.
