The warm weather during summer seems to bring the best of us out in regards to wanting to entertain. Overall it is probably because it is easier to entertain a large group and cook when it can be done out doors. Often people do not take advantage of having an outdoor gathering.

If you are, going to go to the point of having company why not make it extra special and you could even add a few more guests to your list and have a garden party. When you have decided that this is a good idea then you have some planning to do. It is not very much work but it certainly is fun.

Think of a theme for your garden party perhaps you want to have a Mexican party or Hawaiian even. Alternatively, you can have a pool party if you have a pool and plan your decor around the theme as well. You can have formal parties in your garden but most often, the casual parties are just as much fun and a lot less work.

Once you’ve decided on your theme then you’re going to have to decide on what decorations you want to use. There’s all kinds of inexpensive things that you can pick up to decorate with. You can use different types of tablecloths that are going to go with your theme. You can get garden flags or banners and do not forget about streamers. You can hang things from the tree or add candles in your garden.

When it comes time to send out your invitations make sure that you let your guests know that this is going to be a theme party and they must dress according to the theme. If it is going to be a potluck gathering then make each guest bring a dish that is applicable to your theme. Such as if, you are having a Mexican night than Mexican food would be in order.

If however the planning of food and preparing is up to you then you want to go with the easiest way as possible. You do not want to be spending days in the kitchen pre preparing and you need to be out enjoying the party so try to pick many finger foods or even barbecued foods for your occasion.

One thing that really adds a lot of fun and sparkle to this type of garden party is if you pay attention to the beverages, you serve. Look up some great recipes to go with the theme and you can make all kinds of different drinks that are colorful and enjoyable.

Now one thing you have to remember is to keep an eye on the weather forecast. So if you don’t have an area to entertain outdoors where you can keep your guests dry in case of rain then you’re going to have a backup plan were you will be able to move the event inside.

Either way with the proper planning is no doubt that your garden party is going to be lots of fun and enjoyable and something you will want to do quite frequently if you enjoy entertaining.
