Chair cushions add needed softness to hard wooden kitchen and dining room chairs, but choosing dining chair cushions that don’t overpower the kitchen set isn’t easy. Although you can purchase a set of chair cushions for $5 at the local dollar store, they may not match your room’s decor or complement your style. The construction, durability, and comfortability of less expensive cushions are inferior.
Anyone who cares enough to select fine quality, well constructed decorative seat cushions for the dining room or kitchen environment will surely earn a set of furniture which endures, gives more pleasure and comfort, and will need far less maintenance with passing time. In the selection of the chair cushion for wooden chair, make these things into account. Pick the right size for the seat – if the cushion is too small, it will be uncomfortable. It will look builky if it is too large. The wear on the fabric from the edges of the chair seat and will cut the life of your cushions.
Make sure that any ties are sewn into the seam of the cushion. When people sit and stand, chair ties take a lot of pulling and tugging. Ties have a much better chance of staying attached if they are sewn into the seam.
An easy way to keep seat cushions clean is to buy them treated with stain guard. Should you decide on cushions that are not stain resistant, a can of stain guard will be a wise investement to keep them looking new. This is,in fact, your kitchen, and your children eat here, right? When choosing chair cushions, look for either washable ones or ones with removable, washable covers. Some spills are going to soak in, even with stain guard. Being able to toss your chair cushions into the washer will make your life easier. Choose cushions in a sturdy fabric that can withstand lots of wear and tear.
Corduroy, denim, chintz, canvas and duck are all good choices for fabric that wears like iron. Firmly sewn into the seam between the top and bottom of the cushion should be rolled edges, piping and ruffles. Make sure the ruffle or piping doesn’t come free easily, by giving a little tug. Also, examine the seam carefully for any breaks and gaps. Tufted cushions are pretty – but they can be uncomfortable if you sit on them for long periods of time. If you do choose tufted cushions, make sure that any buttons are sewn on through all layers of the chair cushion to avoid losing buttons to wriggling bottoms.
